Summer is approaching quickly and I know with my new move happening soon (Saturday in fact), I am looking for new ways to spice up my space! Some of the ideas I have seen on Pinterest, and others I am just looking forward to trying! Design and decorating gets me excited about life, and (even though I am incredibly messy) I love the thought of having my home completely organized! So if you are preparing for a move, or just looking for a way to improve what you already have, here are some ideas! Create a Mini Garden My favorite part of summer is eating fresh tomato sandwiches. I seriously look so forward to them! I also enjoy using herbs that I have grown instead of spending a lot of money on store bought ones. One thing I am looking forward to doing is creating a pot garden. I want to have all my favorite summer treats at my fingertips, and what better way that to create a cute little garden. Now my only task is to keep Phoenix from eating my plants! Simple Ambience from Silly Lights What are silly lights you might ask. Exactly what they sound like: lights that make you happy! I love the pretty white lights that hang from the ceiling, but my mom loves her solar lights! You can go either way! String them up on your deck or porch and enjoy the cool summer breeze and night sounds from your softly lit haven. Provide a Hummingbird Feeder You can either buy or make one, but a hummingbird feeder is a must for bird lovers. I found this great article about how to make a hummingbird feeder from materials around your house. Hang your feeder and prepare to sit back and watch your birds! I am sure Phoenix will be excited about the birds too! Build a Place to Hold Your Keys This is SUCH a simple idea! It is also an extremely efficient one. If I had a dollar for every time either me or Josh asked the other one, "Where are my keys?" I wouldn't have any student loans left to pay! The idea is to take a frame, paint it a color you love, hang the hooks, and ta-dah: key holder. It will help you stay organized, and it will look like a work of art on your wall! Hello Labels! Growing up, my mother always said, "Things look neater in a basket." My version of this? Things look neater is a labeled jar! I LOVE jars (Josh says its an obsession) and I only WISH I was this organized! There are so many ways to learn to label glass jars (paint, stickers, tags, etc.) and it is a great way to organize your kitchen. Jars don't have to be the only things you label either. Label cabinets, pots, pans, anything you want! Homemade Laundry Rack I am constantly hanging my clothes up to dry in the tub, which doesn't make my bathroom look fabulous! This is a great way to make housework look almost classy. It is also totally functional as well! You can find all the supplies you need to make it here, and believe me, this needs to be a plan! I am eager to take a shower while my clothes are drying! Little luxuries! Subway Art When you work with words, words are your work! Subway art is one of those things that is simple to make, and cheap. You can use photo editing websites like Picmonkey to design your own subway artwork for every season. Today, I sent off for a really cute one I am going to use in my bathroom! Here is another one I created! Be creative and have fun! Okay. I realize it is not Tuesday anymore and I realize there are not ten things here, but let's look at this as though it is to be continued! I am hoping to have a lot more time after the move to get myself settle, and write!
