I need to start with this morning.
I start my day with Josh and my dad and together we watch "Belle et la Bête" on huluplus. I love Beauty and the Beast and Belle is definitely my favorite Disney Princess. I love the French story and the English versions as well but the 1946 French movie is ultimately the best! My dad and I have a lot of the same perspectives on things so we are both mesmerized while Josh is staring at the screen like "Why are you making my watch this?" My little sister walks in with her breakfast we all sit, fascinated by the French dialect and English subtitles. What seems like moments later, my mom comes around the corner and announces that we have 15 minutes before we need to leave for church. My sister is in her pajamas, and I still have my hair in a towel from my shower. Josh iss waiting on my Daddy to get up and lend him some pants (he left his in Raleigh). So with that, we scramble.
We get to church and Josh is wearing a pair of kakis that fit his waist but are too short for his legs. His ankles socks are showing when he walks and sits. Merritt is cute as a button and I am fabulous as always. My grandpa, Paw Paw, has had the stomach bug so my grandparents do not make it to church. Merritt and Josh eat jellybeans during the first half of the service. The service is really good and the songs are ones I like.
My family heads out for lunch, and Mom calls Maw Maw to see how Paw Paw is doing. When we get to Burger King (or Booger King as my mom calls it), we find out that Maw Maw is going to have to take Paw Paw to the hospital because he is really sick. My mom is really upset. Now the Booger King has one of those fancy new Coke machines where you can customize your drink to have certain flavors. Today though, the flavors are not working on the customer's Coke machine, but the one on the employees side are fine. Let me repeat, my mother is really upset. She calls the manager to the front and after she chews his up one side and spits him out the other, he fixes customer's drink machine. After Mom finishes with one scene she creates another by breaking the napkin holder (total accident!) and almost causing a man (who has already had three) a heart attack! Needless to say, we sit down and try not to make anymore commotion.
This evening, Josh and I go to the memorial service for one of my friends that has recently passed away. It is a heartfelt service, both sad and happy, and (sure enough) I cry. Josh puts his arm around me and comforts me with tissues and love. After the service we leave to eat dinner and find ourselves at McDonald's. Booger King and McDonald's all in one day...healthy? I specifically order a large diet Dr. Pepper and a large fry so I can take them home with me (I get a to-go box everywhere I go). I even go through the trouble of refilling my drink to the brim before we leave to head home. As we are walking to our truck, I step in a small round pot hole. It is about three or four inches deep and just big enough for my foot to fit perfectly. I twist my ankle, skin my knee, fling my entire drink every where, loose my fries and skin my elbow. After all of this takes place, I lay in the drive thru at McDonald's and cry. Not just a light sniff. I cry. The ugly, nasty booger-filled kind. I sob. Josh eventually scrapes me up off the drive thru and pulls me to the truck where he hands me napkins and examines my injuries. My knee is skin pretty badly. We head to his office to get band-aids and a Snapple. He kisses me, a we head home, bruised, band-aided and sobbing.
My cat is happy to see me. But she wants to lay in Josh's lap, not mine. My Paw Paw is fine, and has ben sent home with antibiotics and gatorade.
It's a good thing Josh loves me, because I am full of clumsy, messy moments filled with blood and boogers!
